If I have insurance why do I receive a bill in the mail every month?

As a service to our patients we will file your insurance claim on your behalf. We will do follow up on the claims and provide any information necessary to process your claim for payment. However our contract is directly with the patient and it is ultimitly the patients responsibility to pay their accounts in full.

How do I find out what and/or how much my insurance covers?

The best way to find out your specifice coverage is to call your insurance company directly. The human resource department of your company may also be able to assist you. Unfortunetly, there are to numerous plans for our office to know specificly what you plan does and does not cover. The ultimate responsibility is the patients.

Should I call and see Dr. White if a tooth is only hurting sometimes?

YES! Better to deal with it now and perhaps save some money, than to wait and risk the possibility of severe pain and sleepless nights.

What happens if I have an emergency after hours?

Dr. White has an emergency number that you call after hours. The number is on the answering machine at the office or on our home page of this website.

What insurance plans does Dr. White accept?

We will process claims for all insurance companies. However we are not a preferred provider for all of them. The following is a list of Dental Insurance Companies that we are a preferred provider of:

Medica - Employer based plans only
Delta Dental - Employer based plans only
MetLife - Not accepting new MetLife patients at this time.
BCBS - Employer based plans only

If you still have questions about which providers you can see and which ones you cannot, call your insurance company directly and ask.

Why doesn't Dr. White do Amalgam (silver) fillings anymore?

Dr. White has chosen not to do Silver (Amalgam) fillings due to government regulations concerning disposel and use of mercury containing restorations. There are also newer restorations that have improved properties over amalgam.

Negative properties of Amalgam are:

1. They expand with time and form sharp tight contacts.
2. They flow under pressure so that they expand beyond the surface of the tooth where plague and recurrent decay can form.
3. They are black and not esthetic.
4. They do not bond to the tooth, only fill the void, and contribute to cracked tooth syndrome, broken teeth, the need for crowns, root canals and eventual extraction.
5. Amalgam fillings contain Mercury.
